Detailed Product Description
Characteristics: Agricultural charcoal is composed of pure plant material (bamboo residues, sawdust, rice hull, corn stover, and other assorted agricultural waste) that has been carbonized to produced charcoal. Advantages: Adding charcoal to the soil directly increases the soils nutrient and moisture holding capacity, as well as providing a natural habitat for beneficial bacteria like mycorrhizal and trichodermic fungi. Agricultural charcoal has a high carbon content making it one of the safest natural forms of carbon sequestration on the planet (refer Terra Preta). Uses: Charcoal can be added directly to soil (1T/ha each year up to 15T/ha), added to soil (20:80 char: soil ratio) in polybags to promote germination and growth of seedlings and can also be used as a seedcoating. All have shown promising results.
